The Canal House: A Wonder On The Water

This week I had an exciting invite to go and see what the shiny new Canal House (and James Brindley's old residence no less) had to offer us brummies and all those who visit our fine city. The night started with a canal boat; my husband and I watched our heads as we ventured onboard [...]

Hello and welcome to Hey Its Fay; a blog written by a proud Brummie, autoimmune disease expert, and passionate Christmas enthusiast. I’m a content writer by day, and I consume pasta most nights. This is the place where I’ll be sharing my thoughts, challenges, and highlights from my life, so that I can stay creative.

I live in Birmingham, UK (or Brum), and I adore this city. I get super excited about it’s ever-growing independent scene.  I have a toddler called Rex and he often accompanies me on breakfast, brunch and lunch dates; I tend to save nights out and evening meals in the city, for friends, fam, and my lucky husband. I’m here to share what we’ve all enjoyed so that you can too.

I’m a qualified hypnotherapist and love nothing more than helping others to discover how they can chill out, regularly. Mental health is health, so I’ll be sharing things that people may find helpful too…

Peace, love, and caffeine, Fay x

If you’re planning on a trip to St David’s - it’s worth checking out @stdavidsescapes for your accommodation! We stayed for 3 nights in their Skylarks apartment, and it was gorgeous. Really thoughtfully designed, and filled with everything you could want and need. (I can’t take credit for finding this - my mom found and booked everything). Also, the bed was so comfortable- it’s my biggest concern when staying somewhere 😂☺️

Just a @the_deli_in appreciation post! I’m there all the time and we never have a bad experience..great food/drinks + the friendliest service are just part and parcel of what they offer. It’s such a great breakfast/lunch/brunch place - and, if you’re always praying somewhere does a great coffee, when the menu looks good, you won’t be disappointed ☺️
@chapterbham was such a treat on Friday. We had a lot of happy hour cocktails, then I enjoyed the goats cheese starter, the best sea bass I’ve ever eaten for main, and finished strong with a Mille-feuille…all so tasty. Fresh, springy, relaxed, yum x
The best medicine…I enjoyed a little kid-free brunch date on Sunday. We decided to head into town, mainly so my lovely husband could help me with my previous Wes Anderson vid 😆 however, we always know we’ll get good food when there, along with great coffee. After lots of walking around, we decided to head to @medicinebakery - we know the food will always be good, atmosphere relaxed, service super friendly, and there’ll be something baked to take home, and the coffee has always been great for me too. Perfect.
Car pizzas from @smokeandashpizzeria were just what we needed! (Not sold as *car* pizzas, we just ate them in…you get the jist).
